31st March 2011: "£2.75million to engineer future engines and fuels" - the highly transient cold climate engine/powertrain testing rig is now launched (University of Birmingham)

8th February 2011: "Midlands gets a unique hybrid powertrain testing facility" - the Science City hybrid/electric powertrain energy facility now launched (University of Warwick)

17-20 January 2011: Find the Science City Energy Efficiency project at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. The project will be represented by the UKTI and Science City research fellow, Dr Mike Jennings, will be on hand to talk about the project's R&D offerings.

22nd November 2010: SCRA Energy Efficiency project to exhibit on 24th November at the Electric Vehicle Forum in Portsmouth and the 4th Advanced Powertain Control Symposium at Millenium Point.

1 October 2010: Dr Jianlin Wei, joins the project team as a Science City fellow along with recently appointed facility managers, Daecho Kong and Jakub Piaszyk. Jianlin joins Professor Jihong Wang's workstream on energy efficient power and control systems and is based at the University of Birmingham - his fellowship is funded by HEFCE and he will join a team of Science City fellows spread across the Science City projects in the Universities of Warwick and Birmingham. Daecho is working with Dr Xiao-Ping Zhang, managing the smart grid laboratory, and Jakub is managing the future engines and fuels laboratories with Professor Wyszynski - both workstreams are based in the University of Birmingham.

14 September 2010 Project doctoral student, Rami Zakaria, working with Professor Peter Bryanston-Cross, collects £200 prize at the Festival of Science for his excellent snap 'Atomization'.

11 September 2010: Science City Energy Efficiency project hosts 16th International Conference on Automation and Computing with focus on sustainable energy

9 September 2010: HRH Prince of Wales brings green message to Birmingham. HRH was on the latest stage of his START campaign, launched in February 2010, to encourage people to become more energy efficient. Prince Charles inspected hydrogen and eco-racing cars from the Universities of Warwick and Birmingham at the BT Towards a Smarter Future event where the Science City Energy Efficiency project was exhibiting.

05 July 2010 Dr Xiao-Ping Zhang appointed Editor for the newly launched IEEE Transactions on Smart Grids and also elected IEEE Power & Energy Society 'Distinguished Lecturer' on Electricity Network Control with Power Electronic Devices, Wave Generation, Stability of unbalanced three phase power systems.

02 July 2010 Professor Chris Snowden of the IET opens Science City cleanroom launched at University of Warwick's Digilab.
