Getting There
Official Directions to the University and Campus Maps
I want to book a car from London Heathrow (cost about £150)
Birmingham airport (BHX) is located about 10 miles away and will take about 20 minutes by taxi. There are flights to BHX from Newark (one per day, United) and from many European cites. A good way is to change in Amsterdam and then the flight is only about 40 minutes and Amsterdam airport (Schipol) is very easy to transfer at. This is a good choice for Japan, China, etc (alternatively fly via Frankfurt or Paris)
Planes also come to BHX from Dubai (Emirates), India and it is a Ryanair hub with lots of interesting Polish destinations!
Alternatively Heathrow is about 100 miles and trains will go via London. The train from London (Euston) takes only 1 hour to COVENTRY (NOTE NOT WARWICK) but is very expensive. Alternatively trains go from Marylebone to Leamington Spa and are much cheaper: this takes 1 hour 15 minutes (Leamington is about 7 miles from the Campus). Coaches go from Heathrow to Coventry and my students often take this route but I must admit I have never done this! A taxi from Heathrow would take about 90 minutes but cost maybe 150-200 pounds.
Stanstead is relaively close but train connections are pretty bad (over 90 minutes to Birmingham then change), East Midlands is about 45 minutes away as is Luton - however, both difficult to get to by public transport.
Gatwick is a 2 hour drive and one of my least favorite airports and from here you can get trains via London or the coach.
I myself fly pretty much always from BHX or Heathrow.
Note there are no flights from Heathrow to BHX. Andrew and Rachel seem to like Virgin Airlines so often go via Gatwick whilst Stefan will be the expert on flying via Amsterdam.
