If a participant asks you to help them understand what constitutes a fall,
please can you refer to the recognised definition:
*“an unexpected event in which the participant comes to rest on the
ground, floor or other lower level” (Lamb et al. 2005).*
They may describe trips or stumbles or near misses where they have managed
to save themselves but unless they actually came to land on a lower level or
the ground, these are not falls in accordance with this definition,
therefore should not be recorded as such.
