Maria Livanou |
My background is in Forensic Psychology and have been involved in various relevant research projects including deception detection and false confessions. I have also worked in clinical projects concerning self-harm and suicidal behaviour in young people. Currently, I'm finishing my PhD titled "Transitions of care among young offenders with ongoing mental health problems across England". This is a national study that involves all NHS medium secure adolescent units and focuses on young people transferring to adult services. We examine the impact of transitions on mental health along with processes and outcomes across trusts. |

I am an NIHR/HEE Clinical Doctoral Research Fellow at Warwick Medical School, and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. My doctoral research is an intervention development study to improve the health and desistance outcomes of offenders who have personality disorder/s. This is the first known study to apply an occupational perspective to the barriers and opportunities to prosocial (as opposed to antisocial) participation in society after release to the community. I maintain clinical responsibilities as an occupational therapist at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. |
