CEDAR and Addaction have published their report: Delivering Family Interventions through Social Investment? (Mairi Ann Cullen, Charlotte Simpson, Russ Bubley, Matthew Pike, Stephen Cullen, Barbara Allen). This report will be of interest to all those keen to learn more about social investment and/or seeking to scale up a family intervention. The case study intervention was Addaction’s ‘Breaking the Cycle’, aimed at supporting families affected by parental substance misuse.’http://www.addaction.org.uk/sites/default/files/public/attachments/delivering_family_interventions_through_social_investment.pdf
Sasha Mandair
A paper has been published following CEDAR’s hosting of our first undergraduate intern, Sasha Mandair, during the summer vacation 2016: ‘Comparing the effectiveness of evidence-based parenting programs on families of children with and without special educational needs: Short-term and long-term gains’ with Vaso Totsika and Geoff Lindsay, which has just appeared in the journal: Frontiers in Education. http://journal.frontiersin.org/journal/education/section/special-educational-needs
CEREBRA
CEREBRA, a charity that supports families of children with brain conditions, published a parents’ guide to the research evidence for sleep interventions. Children with developmental disabilities face significant difficulties with sleep. This can affect the whole family. Cerebra’s guide is based on research by Dr Lee Priday, Dr Chris Byrne and Dr Vaso Totsika (CEDAR) who examined whether behavioural interventions work to reduce sleep problems in people with intellectual disability: http://w3.cerebra.org.uk/research/research-papers/
