Outside the Classroom
We offer a wide range of opportunities to pursue your academic and other interests outside the classroom. These include events organised by the department, internships, student-led initiatives, and one of the country's largest Students Unions.
Department Seminar Series, Guest Lectures, Clubs and Events
Each department runs seminar series and hosts events for students; providing the chance to network and socialise with our scholarly community as well as expanding your horizons.
In Politics and International Studies the Burning Issues Seminar Series is aimed specifically at taught postgraduate students and tackles major issues and theories in politics and international studies, as well as the PAIS Seminar Series and Film Club screening film on topics relevant to your studies.
Philosophy hosts the London-Warwick Graduate Mind Forum each year, as well as regular graduates and staff talks and reading groups on key texts and areas of study to support your development.
The research centres in Economics each provide a seminar series: Political Economy: Applied Econometrics, Econometrics and Public Policy; Economic Theory; Macro and International Economics, which all postgraduate students can attend, as well as lecture series with high profiles speakers. Previous speakers have included Minouche Shafik, Deputy Governor, Markets and Banking at the Bank of England, and Jonathan Portes, Director of the National Institute of Economics and Social Research
Wider Campus and Societies
Campus is a hive of activity in which to gain relevant experience. Projects and events organised by students contribute significantly to this vibrant atmosphere, and you will be encouraged to participate in and even create your own initiative. Regular activities include Economics Summit, Warwick International Development Society, China in Focus, the Warwick Emerging Markets Forum, Warwick Think Tank, Warwick Investment Forum and TEDx events, as well as a subject specific groups in each discipline and the PPE Society.
Work Experience
PPE offers Student Research Assistant (SRA) positions each year to taught postgraduate students. You will have the opportunity to apply for a paid SRA position during term 1. Successful candidates will work on specific projects with academics in one of the three departments.
