Living in Debt: a Sociology of Everyday Indebtedness
The Living in Debt project is studying how people in the United Kingdom experience different debts, with a particular focus upon the rising problem of ‘priority debts’ (principally Council Tax arrears and rent arrears). The project is also investigating the role played by advice services, charities and funding agencies, as well as ‘priority’ enforcement teams (that is, within local and national government and utility services).
The project will run until September 2019 and is being carried out by Dr. Samuel Kirwan as part of a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship.
