WBS study abroad 2025/26 expression of interest form

Why study abroad?

WBS is a truly international destination, with staff and students from all over the world. We support student mobility through study abroad programmes and all students have the opportunity to apply for study abroad at one of our partner universities.

Studying abroad boosts your academic, personal and professional development, and enables you to build your global network.

Who is eligible to apply?

To be eligible for consideration you must;

  • Be in your 2nd year in 2024-25 academic year and registered on an eligible degree programme;
    • BSc Accounting and Finance
    • BSc Accounting and Finance with Placement Year
    • BSc Management
    • BSc Management with Placement Year
  • have passed all first year modules with a minimum of 40% or above;
  • have achieved an average of 60%+ overall in your first year;
  • may not be considered if you are subject to disciplinary proceedings and/or have a poor engagement record, to be considered on a case-by-case basis;
  • have submitted this expression of interest form between 30th September 2024 and 6th December 2024.

Students are not eligible to apply for a study abroad placement in a country where you hold nationality. Our agreements with partner universities are based on the understanding that students admitted to their exchange programme are international participants.

Where can I study abroad?

All study abroad opportunities are subject to availability of places. WBS study abroad agreements work on a reciprocal exchange basis, and we accept in 1 exchange student for every 1 WBS student we send out. The number of places and universities changes annually and we negotiate spaces on an annual basis. BSc International Management students are allocated as priority because these courses have a compulsory Year Abroad element of their degree. We cannot guarantee we will be able to offer other courses the chance to study abroad, but we do hope to be able to accommodate applications from other degree courses where possible.

Due to this, the list of universities available to Placement Year applicants changes every year. We’ve put together an illustrative list of universities which have been offered to Placement Year applications at least once over the last 3 years to give you an idea of what we have been able to offer to BSc Accounting and Finance, and BSc Management students in previous years.

Course transfer requests

If you are currently registered on the 3-year BSc Accounting & Finance degree or BSc Management degree and intend to convert your degree to the 4-year 'with Placement Year' variant, please also submit a 'Course Transfer Application - Year Away Form' in addition to this expression of interest form. The Undergraduate Office (Student Services team) will then add you to my.wbs module IB2YA Preparing for your Year Away (0 CATS) within 5 working days, and be in touch with further information about the course transfer process.

If you would prefer to see the list of available study abroad partners and be allocated before committing to a course transfer, then only complete this expression of interest form at this stage. If you subsequently apply for and are allocated to a study abroad placement for 25/26, we can guide you through the course transfer process at that time. If you no longer wish to apply for a study abroad opportunity after seeing the partner university list, you can simply ask to withdraw your expression of interest and you will remain on your current 3-year degree.
