WBS Application for WIISP Bursary 2023/24
In order to be eligible to apply for the Warwick International Intensive Study Programme (WIISP) bursary, you must:
- Have an annual household income, as assessed by Student Finance England of £35,000 or below.
- Be resident in the UK and eligible to pay fees at the home rate
- Have applied to www.gov.uk/studentfinance for assessment for financial support and be in receipt of a Government Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan for the 2023-24 academic year.
Applicants must also satisfy at least one of the following criteria to be considered:
- Having spent time in local-authority care.
- Living in a low participation neighbourhood (POLAR 3, quintile 1) or an area which has a high level of deprivation (Index of Multiple Deprivation, 0-20%).*
- Attended a school where average performance of students achieving 5 A*-C GCSE including English and Mathematics was below the national average and/or attended a school/college with below the national average performance at KS5.**
- Attended a school or college with above national average entitlement/eligibility to Free School Meals.**
- Being a first-generation entrant to higher education (i.e. neither parent has attended university).

- Only applicants who have met the criteria listed above are eligible to apply.
- Only complete applications using the relevant form will be considered.
- The deadline for applications is 23:59 on 4th February. Applications received after the closing date/time will not be considered. WBS will not be responsible for any applications that are not received for any reason, by the closing date, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise, and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
- Successful applications will be chosen by a panel. The decision of the panel is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- When awarding the bursary the panel may take the following into consideration: application information, student statement, academic reference and academic results.
- Each scholarship awarded is to the amount of £2,000.
- Students in receipt of the award are expected to sign an agreement and participate in the activities designed to develop their social capital, personal skills, and employability.
