PhD scholarships supporting the future of AI research
The Feuer International Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence are prestigious and highly competitive PhD scholarships. Funded by successful Warwick alumnus Jonathan Feuer, they were established to create a group of extremely talented, academically brilliant, world-leading young researchers with potentially world-changing ideas in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The scholarship programme has become part of the University’s internationally recognised Cyber Security research group. If you're awarded a Feuer PhD Scholarship, you'll have the chance to work alongside Warwick’s top researchers, who are some of the world’s sharpest minds and many of whom hold fellowships at the Alan Turing Institute in London.
"The Feuer Scholarship has given me the opportunity to start my PhD journey in a wonderfully supportive environment. I consider myself very fortunate to be working alongside committed smart peers, an enthusiastic and approachable supervisor, while enjoying the exciting possibilities for collaboration with the Alan Turing Institute and other universities. There are also numerous advantages that come with being well-funded and having open channels of communication with Jonathan Feuer himself. This is a dream scholarship for anyone interested in doing impactful AI research, and I highly recommend candidates from around the world to apply."
Aparajita Haldar, Feuer International Scholar in Artificial Intelligence
"Prior to beginning my PhD, I studied for an undergraduate degree in Data Science at Warwick. This exposed me to potential collaborations with forward-thinking statisticians, computer scientists, mathematicians and other academics, which is something the Feuer Scholarship also highlights as integral to its purpose. I worked alongside the Alan Turing Institute in the summer of 2019 on impactful data science projects, and hope to continue this work leveraging Warwick’s strong inter-disciplinary academic links, and the Turing’s network of excellent universities and inspiring academics. The Feuer Scholarship has empowered me to pursue this work in applications of statistics and computer science to societal issues, as well as contribute to the ethical and transparent development of cutting edge machine learning techniques."
Harry Wilde, Feuer International Scholar in Artificial Intelligence
"The Feuer International Scholarship in AI caught my attention while I was exploring PhD research opportunities. I was already keen to pursue my PhD at Warwick because the Computer Science department is world-renowned for its innovative AI research. I have chosen to start my career with a research focus rather than moving straight into a traditional Computer Science employment role, as I very much want to make a contribution to advancements in my fields of interest. My firm aspirations are to contribute new methods and models to the field of AI research, to engage with the relevant worldwide research communities, and to help create practical AI-based solutions to real-world problems."
Joe Oakley, Feuer International Scholar in Artificial Intelligence
In 2018, I graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Machine Learning from UCL in 2021. During my studies, I have conducted research in the intersection between non-parametric kernel hypothesis testing and post-selection inference. I have broad interests in machine learning and I'm currently working on energy-based models."
Jenning Lim, Feuer International Scholar in Artificial Intelligence
“We’re seeking out the best talent to work on trustworthy and resilient AI projects that will transform society in all areas, from healthcare to the arts. I can’t wait to meet students interested in pursuing this incredible opportunity.”
Professor Carsten Maple, Pro Vice Chancellor for North America and Cyber Security expert at WMG

Warwick is a leader in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data research, with academics across the university working on AI, including those in Warwick Manufacturing Group, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Mathematics, the School of Engineering, the Faculties of Science and Social Sciences, Warwick Business School and Warwick Medical School and.
This work thrives on the foundations of our expertise in computer sciences, statistics and mathematics, which adds value to interdisciplinary projects. Some of our research projects are part of our activities as a founding partner at the Alan Turing Institute in London.
Warwick has a long history of undertaking research in cyber security and is recognised as an NCSC-EPSRC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR). Today, cyber security at the University spans many departments and is coordinated through the Cyber Security Global Research Priority (GRP). The ACE-CSR brings world-renowned academics from many disciplines together to address a broad range of cyber security challenges.
Our aim is to be a world-leading, single institution, multidisciplinary research group for cyber security and to create new knowledge and understanding that will improve cyber security through active partnership with key stakeholders, and have national and international impact.
We are a founding partner of the Alan Turing Institute, the national institute for data science, with headquarters at the British Library.
Research at Warwick enhances and is enhanced by our relationship with the Alan Turing Institute, forging interdisciplinary links across departments and between institutes with expertise in data science. Through this research we contribute to advancements in engineering, technology, defence and security, smarter cities, financial services, health and wellbeing.
