Christopher William Baker R B A
Born: 1956. Nationality: British.
Christopher Baker trained at West Surrey College of Art and Design and at the University of Exeter. For much of his life he has worked as a teacher. He exhibited regularly and has latterly specialised in landscape painting. In this self-portrait completed in 1975, Baker was like a number of other artists of the period adopting a photo-realist style, though his later work, typically of landscape subjects, led to his description by Philip Stroud as 'a modern English Impressionist painter'. He has been a regular contributor to the Artist Magazine since 1987 and has contributed to a number of textbooks on painting techniques.
