Printmaking was also included in Nele’s versatile range of skills; she had worked early in her career at the Studio Lacourière, in Paris, famous for the printmaking they supervised for Matisse, Picasso, Vollard and other notable artists.
Despite their titles, it is possible that these striking abstract etchings reflect ideas and forms for future sculptures: they seem to convey an interest in and understanding of metallic surfaces and structures.
