Born 1963
Fiona Rae was born in Hong Kong and moved to
London
in 1970. She followed an Art Foundation course at Croydon College of Art and in 1987 completed a BA Hons in Fine Art at Goldsmiths’ College. She was one of the group of young artists who emerged in the late 1980s becoming known as the YBAs (Young British Artists) and took part in Damien Hirst’s celebrated Freeze exhibition in 1988. She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1991 and elected Royal Academician in 2002. She has exhibited widely nationally and internationally and has works in public and private collections worldwide.
