This intricate etching is typical of the mysterious surreal worlds that Meckseper conjures up in his painting and printmaking, often in the form of still lifes of curious objects or pictures of ambiguous architectural structures. Here he presents an imaginary stone house, the fantastic scale of which dwarfs the surrounding landscape of paths and trees – it is a puzzle, forcing one to imagine the windowless building’s purpose and what might take place within it.
