Hour Painting No.10 by Ian McKeever
|
The abstract, almost spiritual nature of McKeever's works stem partly from his religious upbringing and partly from a discomfort with his own body. This discomfort can be overcome through painting where it is possible to step out side of the body and reach the inner self. McKeever says that he senses the forms he is about to paint before he knows exactly what they will look like. This focus on form is clearly displayed in Hour Painting No 10 as the areas of colour do not point the viewer to a single understanding but instead appear to focus the mind and soul on its own path of discovery.
