From Baudelaire: Les Fleurs du Mal (for A.B) by John Goto

From Baudelaire: Les Fleurs du Mal (for A.B) by John Goto

The three prints in the University collection are part of a series of twenty which refer to the poem Les Fleurs Du Mal by Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867). When the poem was published in 1857 it caused an uproar in France and led to a celebrated obscenity trial.

Goto produces larger than life size images in order to both emphasise the text and explore the rich textures of the paper and background.
