Untitled by John W Wells

This drawing is an intimate study of a young girl absorbed in writing or drawing. Many artists use the practice of life drawing as a way of keeping their hand/eye co-ordination at a high level. At times, it can be almost automatic and many exhibitions will feature a selection of the artist's drawings which will include such intimate studies of members of their immediate family as this.
The artist has made a quick ink drawing - merely outlining the girl's book - and then used an ink wash to add shadows and depth swiftly.
