Education for Sustainable Development
The International Symposium on Education for Sustainable Development:
The Midlands Hub hosted an International Symposium in collaboration with hubs at Kingston University, London Metropolitan University, UNC Charlotte, and Malmö University, alongside the University of Warwick.
Programme Overview:
21 May, 2.00pm – 5.00pm BST (9.00am – 12.00pm EST, 3.00pm – 6.00pm CET):
The first day featured panels and papers discussing examples of sustainability efforts connected to classrooms and community partners.
22 May, 2.00pm – 5.00pm BST (9.00am – 12.00pm EST, 3.00pm – 6.00pm CET):
The second day focused on a series of “hackathons” designed to bring community sustainability issues into practice. Using a toolkit developed by Kingston University, online teams collaborated to develop solutions to specific sustainability challenges, with time allocated for presenting ideas. This approach aimed to demonstrate the value of the hackathon model in sustainability work and contributed to the refinement of the toolkit, which was shared with participants.
