Chancellor Installation
The installation took place at the start of the graduation ceremony where those from Social Sciences, including Law, were graduating in a nod to Bience’s studies at Warwick in the 1980s.
Many of Council and Senate representatives attended along with family and friends of Bience, key regional, national and international stakeholders.
Following the oration, given by Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, Advocate Bience Gawanas was formally installed as the seventh Chancellor by Sir David Normington,

“Chancellor, in accordance with the provisions of our Charter, the Senate and the Council have appointed you to be our Chancellor and Head of the University of Warwick. We are honoured that you have accepted this office and are gathered here in this Congregation to welcome you on behalf of the Council, the Senate and all the members of the University.”
Whilst resting a hand on the Mace, the Chancellor replied with:
“In front of the Council, the Senate and all the members of the University and guests with us today, I am proud to take up the role of Chancellor of the University of Warwick.”
