Retired Staff Association : Founding Principles
The University of Warwick Retired Staff Association (WRSA) was set up in the mid-1990s and is open to all retired University employees. There is a small annual subscription to cover costs, with a proportion of any surplus providing Student Bursaries and Music Scholarships to assist students to pursue activities outside their subject specialisation.
Benefits of membership:
·Keeps members abreast of the latest University activities, developments and achievements through the WRSA Newsletter.
·Provides a link to other members.
·Allows members access to certain University amenities, including the Library and Sports Hall.
·Gives members a choice of social activities including visits of cultural interest, walks, a Christmas lunch and two meetings including a buffet lunch with a speaker on a Warwick related topic.
The activities in recent years have included monthly walks, coach trips to Liverpool, Bletchley Park and to Blenheim Palace to view the house dressed for Christmas. A variety of speakers have attended the Spring and Autumn meetings, including Professor Kumar, Deputy Dean of Medical School, Professor Abhinay Muthoo, Head of the Economics Department, and Professor Stefan Bonn who gave a mouth-watering talk about chocolate. Partners are welcome to attend all functions without a separate subscription.
Even if you have moved away from the area, the Association can provide a valuable means of keeping in touch, and you will receive regular Newsletters as well as the University's own publications and other relevant mailings.
