If you've been to the Museum of Liverpool's Global City gallery, you might have seen Valencia Rd in the 'Where in the World?' exhibit. Here's a little bit more information about Valencia House, home of the fruit broker William Alexander McGeorge, which gave its name to today's street.
New page! The Quinta (21 Greenheys Rd): villa home of fruit merchant James C Houghton and family
James C Houghton was part of Liverpool's close-knit circle of fruit merchants with close connections in Portugal and Madeira. He built this impressive villa, named for the elegant Portuguese country estates where he did much of his business, during the 1860s, but lived in it for less than ten years.
