Crafting Communities and Dramaturgies of Care

Co-produced by Samra Said and Sampira Al-Fihri from Arts & Homelessness International (AHI), Crafting Communities and Dramaturgies of Care took place at Rosetta Arts in East London on Thursday 11 June 2026. It brought together artists, academics, activists, and members of the local community for a programme of conversation, exhibition, and celebration centred on creativity as a form of care, solidarity, and social engagement within the arts and homelessness sector. The event featured a panel conversation featuring Jess Turtle from the Museum of Homelessness and Matt Peacock from Arts & Homelessness International.

At the heart of the event was an exhibition co-created from concept to delivery with people with lived experience of homelessness. It featured artwork by artists Amerah Saleh, Calum Perrin, Sampira Al-Fihri, and Bekki Perriman, who were commissioned to respond to themes explored in Homelessness in Performance, Art and Society: Becoming Visible. Bringing together a range of artworks and live performance, the exhibition reflected on ideas around carelessness, caring attention, caring acts, caring solidarity, and the ways care is experienced and enacted through creative practice. The exhibition also explored how creating the conditions for creativity can itself become an act of care for both self and community.
