Elizabeth Smart was a Canadian poet and novelist whose 1945 novel By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept brought her recognition in the 1960s. She wrote another novel, The Assumption of the Rogues and Rascals, and several collections of poetry, some of them published posthumously.
