UK conference on Belarus (26-27 April)

WUB Hub wishes to draw the attention of researchers and others interested in Belarus to a conference in London/online taking place on 26-27 April.

The 9th Annual Belarusian Studies in the Twenty-First Century conference is organised by UCL's School of Slavonic and East European Studies, the Ostrogorski Centre, and the Francis Skaryna Library and Museum. The event includes the Annual London Lecture on Belarusian Studies which this year will be given by Dr Stephen Hall of the University of Bath and titled 'The End of Belarusian Adaptive Autocracy?'

In-person participants will be able to attend a reception on Friday evening and join a tour of both the Francis Skaryna Library/Museum and the Church of St Cyril of Turau & All the Patron Saints of the Belarusian People on Saturday 27 April. The church is London's only existing wood-built church and, along with the library, an important centre for the Belarusian community in the UK.

Last year's Annual London Lecture on Belarusian Studies was given Dr Paul Hansbury (Research fellow, WUB Hub) and can be watched here. The event will also see the launch of the latest issue of the Journal of Belarusian Studies, which includes a review of a volume co-edited by Professor Elena Korosteleva (Director, IGSD) and a write up of Dr Hansbury's lecture.
