Forthcoming conference on Belarus in London (9-10 May)

WUB Hub wishes to draw the attention of researchers and others interested in Belarus to a conference in London/online taking place on 9-10 May 2025.

The 10th Annual Belarusian Studies in the Twenty-First Century conference is organised by UCL's School of Slavonic and East European Studies, the Ostrogorski Centre, and the Francis Skaryna Library and Museum, with support from the Warwick Ukraine-Belarus Hub. The event includes the Annual London Lecture on Belarusian Studies which this year will be given by Dr Aleksandra Pomiecko of Kings College, London. Her lecture is titled: '"War after War": Anti-Soviet Armed Resistance in the Early Cold War Period.'

In-person participants will be able to attend a reception on Friday evening at which the WUB Hub team will present the new book, Unbroken Generation: Youth Voices of Belarus. There will also be a tour of both the Francis Skaryna Library/Museum and the Church of St Cyril of Turau & All the Patron Saints of the Belarusian People on Saturday. The church is London's only existing wood-built church and, along with the library, an important centre for the Belarusian community in the UK.
