3. Taste and Preference Theme

Overview of Theme

This theme of Taste and Preference focuses on dishes catered to children's tastes and examines the various customizations for children’s palates that parents make and the use of the child's favourite ingredients.

Group 16
这位妈妈会根据孩子的口味调整菜肴,例如将煮鸡蛋改为轻煎鸡蛋,以增加风味。她提到:“ 孩子有时候更喜欢煎的食物,我会稍微煎一下鸡蛋,换个做法,让他们吃得更有兴趣。”此外,家长还会自制甜点,如蛋挞,使用简单的原料制作健康的家庭版点心,满足孩子对甜食的喜好。她提到:“蛋挞是他们的最爱,我自己做起来也方便,孩子吃得放心。”孩子还特别喜欢水果,如芒果和葡萄干,家长经常为孩子准备这些水果作为饭后的补充,为孩子提供丰富的饮食体验。
This mother adjusts dishes to suit her child’s tastes, such as lightly pan-frying eggs instead of boiling them to enhance flavor. She shared, ‘My children sometimes prefer pan-fried foods, so I lightly fry the eggs to make them more appealing.’
Additionally, she makes homemade desserts like egg tarts, using simple ingredients to create healthier versions of sweet treats that her children love.
She said, ‘Egg tarts are their favorite, and making them myself is convenient and safe for the kids to eat.’ Her child also enjoys fruits like mango and raisins, so these are often served as meal supplements, providing a diverse and satisfying dining experience.
Group 28

This parent prioritizes the child’s preferences while ensuring nutritional balance, offering a variety of fresh dishes each week.
The parent shared, ‘My child loves colorful dishes, so I often combine vegetables and meat, such as tomatoes, carrots, and eggs.’
Daily meals include three home-cooked dishes with a mix of meat and vegetables, such as braised pork, stir-fried greens, and pumpkin millet porridge. These thoughtful arrangements not only satisfy the child’s tastes but also ensure a balanced and nutritious diet.
Group 51

This mother adapts her food preparation to include her child’s favourite foods, such as sushi and noodles, adding ingredients like cucumber, carrot, and ham for a flavourful and crunchy texture.
She shared, ‘Sushi with cucumber, carrot, and ham tastes delicious and crunchy, and my child loves it.’ Additionally, she makes red bean buns and other homemade baked goods to ensure a balanced diet.
She explained, ‘Since my child is still young, I focus on balanced nutrition, making sure he eats meat, vegetables, fruits, and grains, with lightly seasoned meals for easier digestion.’ She also emphasizes light cooking and minimizes the use of processed foods, creating a safe and healthy dietary environment for her child.
