Below are some examples of projects at Warwick supported by the Reinvention Centre which were not funded from the Centre's usual funding streams (more details coming soon):

 

Coventry Haven Project

Coventry Haven is a local domestic violence project and refuge. Students from Warwick are undertaking a number of different research and volunteering projects there, often using their research as a basis for assessed work such as a dissertation. Some of the students talked about their experiences during International Women's Week in the Students' Union in week 10.

The F Word 'Zine

Students from all over the University have worked together to produce a feminist 'zine (a DIY publication) showcasing students' creative writing and other forms of contribution. Two editions of the 'zine have so far been produced. If you would like to get hold of copies, be involved and/or contribute you can email the current editors at thefwordzine at gmail dot com

 

Gender Transformations in Higher Education

Students from a number of different departments who are involved in gender and feminist activism have come together to research activist theory and practice within and beyond the University. A number of different research methods were used – interviews, journals, photography and group discussions, and a collaborative article was written about the process. The article has been submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication and is currently under review. The students involved are now planning a conference paper based on these research processes and findings.

Probation Project

Students in Sociology are working together with young offenders from the local community who have grants to fund an educational project of their choice.

 

West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre Project
