Who should attend?
The AMR Sandpit is a funding competition jointly organised by the NIHR Clinical Research Network: West Midlands and the University of Warwick.
It is open to all UK healthcare professionals and researchers interested in tackling any aspect of Antimicrobial Resistance.
What will happen on the day?
It is a full day event, which will begin with short talks from the Clinical Research Network, Public Health England and senior research academics.
There will then be opportunities for attendees to split into groups, network and develop project ideas*.
In the afternoon, groups will be asked to nominate a representative to pitch their idea to a Dragon’s Den style panel of experts.
The top 3 ideas will be invited to submit a full application for up to £25,000.
* Attendees can come with specific projects ideas in mind or join/form/develop them at the event itself.
What are the rules of the funding competition?
Project Requirements:
1) Involve, in some capacity, a researcher from the University of Warwick
(eg. for data analysis, modelling, evaluation, advisory)
2) Involve, in some capacity, the NIHR Clinical Research Network: West Midlands
(eg. for patient recruitment)
3) That the funding (up to £25,000) be spent within 6 months and a short
report of outcomes submitted to the organisers
