I am a first year candidate of MPhil/Ph.D. in Nursing based at the Division of Health Sciences, Warwick Medical School, from Selangor, Malaysia.

Prof. Kate Seers and Dr Sophie Staniszewska from Royal College of Nursing Research Institute, University of Warwick are supervising my research.

I am currently working on thesis proposal entitle "Exploration on Nurses' Experiences During Disaster Response in Malaysia: A Grounded Theory Study.

Dear Ms Ahayalimudin

I am writing to inform you that the Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies, acting on the Board's behalf, has approved a recommendation from your department/school that you be permitted to transfer your registration to the Ph.D. in Nursing with effect from 28th January 2016.

I am now in my second year and still working on my initial topic on 'Nurses' experiences during disaster response'. I have carried out my pilot study among three nurses work in the emergency department, in Malaysia. Soon, I will be leaving for another episode of data collection.

Research Interest

My ultimate interest in research is Disaster Nursing (focusing on Disaster Education).

Apart from that, I also have an interest in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Management, Clinical Teaching, Health Care Management and Health Care Policy.

Career Background

I am an Emergency Nurse by background. I used to work in the Emergency and Trauma Department, Hospital Selayang, Selangor after graduated from Diploma in Nursing training at the College of Nursing, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. Then, moved to Emergency and Trauma Department, Hospital Sungai Buloh in 2005. Within ten years having clinical experience as a Staff Nurse in Ministry of Health hospital, I was given many tasks, for instance, being a clinical advisor, clinical supervisor, course coordinator, CPR trainer and facilitator, Core Team for setting up the department and so on.

Later in 2009, I was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and currently hold a Lecturer post. I also appointed as a part-time Tutor at Open University Malaysia, teaching the emergency nursing subject and National Institute of Occupational and Safety Health (NIOSH) for teaching a Basic Occupational First Aid (BOFA) course. I was designated as Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs), Kulliyyah of Nursing for the tenure of 2012/2013 academic year.
