Collaboration with Professor Lois on EMERALD Study by Professor Norman Waugh
A long-standing collaboration with Professor Lois who led the EMERALD study (and is also leading another called DIAMONDS, also in diabetic eye disease, which is being written up now .. We have a number of examples where we do systematic reviews with help from clinical colleagues and they do the trials with help (design, quality of life, cost-effectiveness) from us. Systematic reviews are worthy but unglamorous, but they provide a good foundation for trials.
We were commissioned to do a review for the Health Technology Assessment Programme which underpinned the DIAMONDS trial. It was published in 2015. Noemi Lois provide clinical advice. All the other authors are from Warwick.
