A bibliometrics study, done as part of a wider project commissioned by the Macular Society by members of Warwick Evidence, found that the UK is one of the world’s leading producers of research into macular degeneration, one of the main causes of blindness. The number of citations to UK research publications showed that the quality of research is very good.
