Midlands Health Innovation commissioned Hatch Regeneris to undertake an assessment of the nature and scale of the medical technologies (MedTech) sector in the Midlands, its contribution to the regional economy, what MedTech businesses in the Midlands need to achieve growth and increased productivity, and the barriers they face in achieving this.

This report is soon to be launched and will act a focal point for the MedTech industry's needs and ambitions for the future of the Midlands sector.

Once launched, the full report will be hosted here on the MHI website for all to use.

This report highlights the continued need for a large-scale, fully integrated approach across the Midlands, developing upon existing critical infrastructure and opening new close-to-market opportunities. It's conclusion, reinforces the Midlands' view that the Medical Technologies Innovation Accelerator (MTIA) is the principle mechanism by which this can be achieved. MTIA will harness the Midlands’ unique industrial base, patient population and academic-NHS innovation environment to create the UK’s leading cluster of excellence for development, evaluation and adoption of Medical Technologies. Supporting sub-regional programmes, such as our two Strength in Places Fund applications, will pave the way for the regional-level delivery these ambitions.
