Trial of the Year 2014

The Society for Clinical Trials has named the PARAMEDIC Trial Trial of the Year 2014. The research team received the award at the Society's 36th Annual Meeting in America on 19 May. Read the full press release.

Results

The results of the PARAMEDIC trial were published in the Lancet on 16.11.2014.

The main result of the study was that there was no difference in the number of people alive one month after their cardiac arrest (approximately 6 out of 100 were alive in both groups). The study shows that the high quality treatments delivered by NHS Ambulance Paramedics were not improved by using a mechanical chest compression device.
