Q. A patient arrived for his assessment but I felt unable to assess him as he told me that he sometimes mobilises at home with elbow crutches/or gutter frame but really struggles with transfers and mobility. He was really short of breath after struggling to transfer from his mobility scooter to a chair and I did think I wouldn't be able to get him back up! I wasn't sure whether this would be an adverse event or just a treatment withdrawal as he was not suitable for assessment or the intervention. A. This is a treatment withdrawal as no harm came to the patient or the therapist whilst he was attending his PreFIT appointment. The therapist explained to the patient and his wife that he was unfortunately not appropriate for the exercise programme due to his poor transfers and standing ability, which they agreed with.
