Meniscal Tear Outcome (METRO) Study

Multi centre cohort study exploring the current treatment of young patients (Aged less than 55) with a meniscal tear.

Research objectives:

  1. Describe the baseline pattern of symptoms of younger people with a meniscal tear.
  2. Describe the baseline pattern of MRI features of young patients diagnosed with a meniscal tear.
  3. Describe and summarise the clinical course of patients with a meniscal tear managed operatively and non- operatively.
  4. Explore the relationship, if any, between symptoms and treatment outcome for a meniscal tear.
  5. Explore the relationship, if any, between MRI features and treatment outcome for a meniscal tear.
  6. Explore patient lived experience of the existing treatment options for meniscal tears.
