RECOVERY-RS Group Site Teleconferences

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our sites for your continued dedication and support for the trial. Recruitment has excelled in the last month with a total of 365 patients now recruited. This is a phenomenal achievement and will ensure we reach 430 patients recruited before the end of the year to perform our first interim analysis. Together we can deliver this trial and resolve doubts regarding effective and safe respiratory support treatments for COVID-19 patients.

Please click here for a summary of the site teleconferences which took place in September. We really appreciated everyone’s involvement during the interactive feedback session and ask you to read the key messages on page 4 summarising the outcome of these discussions.

The next site teleconferences will take place:
24 November 09:30 - 10:30
02 December 09:00 - 10:00

RECOVERY-RS 300th patient recruited!

The 300th patient has been recruited to RECOVERY-RS! The achievement of this milestone would not have been possible without the support of all our recruitment hospital sites, patients and their families which we are very grateful for. Thank you to all involved.

RECOVERY-RS on BBC Radio 4 Inside Health

Listen to one of our Chief Investigators Professor Gavin Perkins on BBC Radio 4 Inside Health explain why RECOVERY-RS is needed to identify effective respiratory support treatments for COVID-19 patients. Gavin highlights there is uncertainty regarding which method of non-invasive ventilation will benefit patients and whether this might help to avoid intubation. As winter approaches with cases rising it is important to not enter in to a false sense of security and important urgent public health trials must continue to be delivered to provide us with the answers needed.

RECOVERY-RS in The Times

An article was recently published in The Times emphasising the need for RECOVERY-RS to resolve doubts around the best respiratory support to provide to COVID-19 patients. Clinical equipoise at sites to essential to provide us with the answers we need.

RECOVERY-RS is the only large trial investigating whether intervening with CPAP and delivering oxygen under pressure into the nose really do speed recovery times and reduce the need for people to be intubated.

Well Done to Fairfield General Hospital who recruited the 200th patient. This was their 40th patient randomised as our consistent top recruiter and they also recruited the very first patient to the trial back in April. Excellent work.
