The underrepresentation of minority ethnic groups in research is a recognised issue due to factors like mistrust, historical mistreatment, language, and accessibility barriers, resulting in research findings that are not always applicable to these communities. As part of our effort to address this, we have formed the West Midlands Knowledge Partnership for Race Equity. Place Based Research and Culture programme funded our recent project which aimed to promote the inclusion of minority ethnic group in research.

Through workshops, we gathered insights from these communities on health research. We also created a video highlighting the importance of research participation, featuring diverse voices, and developed an interactive map of community organisations serving minority ethnic populations to promote equitable research involvement and collaboration.
