"Double Winners for Jocelyn and Jennifer
Congratulations to WMS PhD student Jocelyn Watkins who has won Warwick’s first Three Minute Thesis competition. Jocelyn's research explores the potential for digital communication to enhance primary health care in low and middle income countries where resources are limited.
The competition took place on Wednesday 10 June and was open exclusively for Warwick students registered for a postgraduate research degree. Due to Jocelyn’s success she is now a semi-finalist for the national competition hosted by Vitae (Realising the Potential of Researchers) in July 2015.
Jocelyn was also an Oral Presentation Winner at Warwick Medical School’s PGR Student Symposium in May. Jocelyn is supervised by Prof Frances Griffiths in the Division of Health Sciences in collaboration with Jane Goudge and Xavier Gomez-Olive at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Also congratulations to PhD student Jennifer Cooper. Jennifer’s poster “Improving the ‘FIT’ - An Investigation into the use of Risk Factors to Improve the Performance of Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening” won the Medicine Faculty Poster prize. Jennifer’s poster also achieved this year’s WMS PGR Symposium poster prize. Jennifer is supervised by Sian Taylor-Phillips, Nicholas Parsons and Steve Smith (UHCW) in the Division of Health Sciences."
