On completion of the module, you should be able to...
6.1 maintain contemporaneous clinical records following best-practice standards
6.2 demonstrate rigorous clinical reasoning and decision-making
6.3 undertake clinical assessment demonstrating appropriate evaluation of evidence from, for example, history, examination and investigations, with an appropriate spread of suggestions in the differential diagnosis
6.4 recognize and manage patients with acute oral conditions ensuring involvement of appropriate dental team members
6.5 undertake risk assessments leading to an appropriate management plan, including consideration of risks to the patient and others
6.6 investigate and refer taking appropriate account of the views of relatives, carers and any other relevant third parties
6.7 recognize the signs of abuse or neglect and raise concerns where appropriate
6.8 undertake care planning, including appropriate arrangements made, recorded and communicated for follow up over the full period of a treatment programme
6.9 communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with a wide range of audiences, including other health professionals, patients (including patients with difficult or challenging behaviours) and carers
6.10 demonstrate professional standards in all aspects of orthodontic therapeutic practice

6.12 Describe the principles of preventive care and undertake preventative education
6.13 Recognise the need to monitor and review treatment outcomes
6.14 Describe the health risks of diet, drugs and substance misuse, and substances such as tobacco and alcohol on oral and general health and provide appropriate advice, referral and support
6.15 Demonstrate appropriate continuous improvement activities and the role of audit in clinical practice
