What is Tracking and Why am I being Tracked?
Tracking is the gathering of user identifiable data for pages that request it, and will only be done with your permission. When Tracking is turned on, you will see the following icon at top of your page.
Tracking is compulsory for all students, therefore you will not get access to your clinical case ePortfolio unless you accept the agreement that you will be presented with the first time you access pages that need to be tracked.
This is how a page will look when tracking is turned on, the red arrow show where the tracking icon will appear.
Okay so now you know what tracking is, but why are you being tracked?
There are two main reasons why tracking is an important feature of your ePortfolio:
- Tracking gives you the ability to see which pages you have already looked at. This will help you keep track of how you are progressing through your clinical cases, and ensure that you have not missed sections. You can view this information by clicking on the
icon, and following the instructions to view data.
- The second reason for tracking is so that supervisors can see where you have made changes to a clinical case, allowing them to provide you with focused support at all times.
How do I turn tracking on?
When you first visit a page that needs tracking enabled, you will be presented with the following three consent options:
We recommend that you choose the third option, to allow tracking on all pages that require it for the duration of your time at the University, as this will save you the effort of having to turn tracking on each time you update your pages, or change Internet browsers.
