POST Experience

From April 2011 - June 2011 I undertook a fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).

The placements were awarded competitively, and aimed to give students experience of science policy.

During my time at POST I independently researched and wrote a 4-page POST note looking at 'Improving Livestock.' This included looking at selective breeding, cloning and GM animals. The placement included:

  • Research around the subject area;
  • Collating a list of academics and other stakeholders to interview;
  • Carrying out interviews in person and over the phone;
  • Writing a 4-page briefing document, suitable for use by parliamentarians.
  • The final document went through internal and external review, and was published in October 2011. The final published note can be found at:
