The Solutions Trial

The Solutions Trial

Information about the trial

Children and young people who come into contact with the police often need help. The Solutions Trial aims to test out whether offering these children and young people a treatment called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is helpful. SFBT is a short-term therapy that helps people to change by focusing on building solutions rather than getting stuck thinking about problems. Half of those involved will be offered SFBT plus their routine treatment, and half will only get their routine treatment (and no SFBT). All of the children and young people who take part will be asked to complete some questionnaires about things that may change because of taking part in the Trial. This way we can see whether SFBT makes a difference.

Hello, I'm Faizan, the Research Assistant for the Solutions Trial at the University of Warwick, based in Lancashire. I'll serve as your primary point of contact for inquiries about participating in or for those currently engaged in the Solutions Trial. I have a background in Criminology and have worked with a variety of people in the numerous positions. I have worked and taught children, young people and adults in various capacities, working with them to improve their experiences and their outlook on problems whether those be academic or otherwise.

In my previous position at the University of Lancashire (UCLan), I had the opportunity to contribute to conferences like SSHaRe NoW and ChildFirst. These experiences allowed me to collaborate with organisations such as the Youth Justice Board and Lads Like Us, as well as other professionals, in organizing informative events for both professionals and the public. I'm genuinely excited to be part of the Solutions Trial and hope to contribute to improving the experiences of young individuals in liaison and diversion practices, I look forward to meeting all those who choose to participate in the trial.
