About the Event
As part of the Warwick Climate Governance and Policy Nexus (NEXUS) Road to COP 30 series, we are thrilled to welcome Seema Mundoli, Associate Professor at Azim Premji University, for a special session in our Inclusive Climate Governance Seminar Series.
Inclusive Climate and Environmental Communication for Action
This event explores the vital role of communication in connecting academic research with real-world climate action, especially in the Global South where the urgency of climate impacts intersects with systemic inequalities. Grounded in the values of the Nexus Project, the session highlights the importance of capacity building, justice oriented collaboration, and inclusive public engagement as key components of transformative climate governance.
In addition to her participation in the Sustainability Spotlight Forum, Seema Mundoli will lead a dedicated NEXUS workshop on 2 July, co organised by Emellyne Forman (NEXUS Project) and Hita Unnikrishnan (IGSD). This hands on session will introduce practical strategies for making climate research more publicly accessible through storytelling, creative methodologies, and community driven dialogue. Participants will reflect on how inclusive communication can catalyse policy influence, amplify marginalised voices, and build resilience through participatory knowledge exchange.
Join us to explore how your communication practices can lead to real world impact and contribute to more inclusive and effective climate policy and action.
Abstract
Democracy is not limited to the political sphere—information democracy is equally critical in the era of climate breakdown. At the School of Climate Change and Sustainability, Seema and her colleagues asked: how can our research, often locked in academic journals, be opened up to inspire action?
Their answer: experiment boldly. From illustrated children’s books and accessible datasets to citizen-led environmental assessments and inclusive climate festivals, this work offers a blueprint for transforming how research moves through the world.
In this talk, Seema shares the lessons and hopes from a journey rooted in co-creation, grounded in equity, and committed to amplifying underrepresented voices—offering valuable strategies for researchers across disciplines who want to build capacity and drive change.
