International Women's Day Fundraising Event
WLS/Library/Rootes

Runs from Wednesday, March 08 to Friday, March 10.

The theme for the 2023 International Women's Day, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’, highlights the need to bridge the gender gap and access opportunities in digital education for women and girls. Over 10 million girls are out of school in Nigeria, with no access to digital and technological education. To commemorate the day, we are raising funds to train 50 girls in Nigeria in digital and technological courses, thus increasing their employability skills.

Our target is to raise funds for 50 girls which will cost around £4100 for the bootcamp training in digital courses. We will be having an offline fundraise in 3 different locations for 3 days consecutively: 8 March - The Warwick Law School, 9 March - Outside the Library, 10 March - Outside the Rootes Grocery Store.

International Women's Day: Coffee with Economists
Online (MS Teams Live Event)

Following the success of the event held in 2022, we are delighted to invite you to pop the kettle on and join us for an informal and inclusive virtual discussion with a panel of distinguished economists as we celebrate International Women's Day 2023.

Details

Date: Wednesday 8 March 2023
Time: 5:30 - 6:30pm (UK Time)
Location: Online (MS Teams Event)

What's in store?

Covid-19 and the cost of living crisis has drawn attention to the varied work of economists, however misconceptions around the subject and the stereotypical career opportunities available in the field still exist.

Designed for post-16 year old students, this event aims to help students find out more about economics as a subject and discover the range of career opportunities available to them.

The panel of female economists will share:

  • Their experience of studying economics at university
  • The key transferable skills that they think are important for studying economics at university
  • Their current role and what it involves.

Participants will also have the opportunity to put their own questions to the panel.
