How do I use this calendar?

The Department of Economics is delighted to be hosting a hybrid event for Economics Alumni. We would like you to join us for an evening of topical conversation followed by an opportunity to engage with Andy and your fellow Alumni at a drinks reception after the event.

Andy will be discussing the following:

Andrew G Haldane (MA Economics 1989) - Chief Executive Officer, Royal Society of Arts (RSA)

Andrew Haldane is the Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). He was formerly Chief Economist at the Bank of England and a member of the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee. Among other positions, he is Honorary Professor at the Universities of Nottingham and Manchester, Visiting Professor at King’s College, London, a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford and a Fellow of the Royal Society and the Academy of Social Sciences. He has authored around 200 articles and 4 books. Andrew is Founder and President of the charity Pro Bono Economics, Vice-Chair of the charity National Numeracy, Co-Chair of the City of London Task-Force on Social Mobility and Chair of the National Numeracy Leadership Council. Andrew was the Permanent Secretary for Levelling Up at the Cabinet Office from September 2021 to March 2022, and as of June 2022, chairs the Levelling Up Advisory Council.

Ben Chu is Economics Editor of Newsnight, the BBC's flagship news and current affairs programme broadcast on weekdays on BBC TWO. He is also the author of "Chinese Whispers: Why Everything You’ve Heard About China is Wrong" .

Please note: This event will be live streamed. By registering your attendance at this event, you are giving consent to be part of the live stream, however if you do not wish to be in the streaming, please inform the film crew or a member of Economics staff on the day.

This event is for Warwick Alumni and Economics staff only.

Registration for the event is essential. The Shard is limited to 100 attendees in-person, but there is no limit to the number who will be able to watch online. . Registration will close at 3pm (UK Time) on Tuesday 4 October.
