Career in International Affairs ForumRuns from Tuesday, March 16 to Wednesday, March 17. An annual meeting in which students, graduates, young professionals, representative of International institutions and governments agencies and experts will share their offerings and exchange insights in the field of international affairs. Young people interested in pursuing their careers in foreign relations and diplomacy will have a chance not only to meet representatives of prospective world's leading institutions but also learn about leading scholarships. Careers in Economics Webinar Series 2021-22As part of our Careers in Economics Webinar Series we would like you to join us for an informal discussion with a panel of Warwick Alumni discussing their career journeys since graduating from Warwick. About the talkWe will be talking to four Warwick Alumni: Clara Ana Coutinho de Sousa, Nahrin Swarna, Jakob Christensen and Nikhil Sanghani. The panel will share:
The panel will be introduced by Atisha Ghosh, Teaching Fellow, Department of Economics and the Q&A session will be conducted jointly by Atisha Ghosh and Stephanie Redding, our Senior Careers Consultant. About the speakersClara Ana Coutinho de Sousa (PhD Economics, 1998) - Manager of the IDA Strategy and Operations Unit at the World Bank. For more information about the work Clara currently leads on at the World Bank, see International Development Association (IDA). Clara joined the World Bank in 2005 as Senior Economist in the Department of Economic Policy for the Latin America and the Caribbean and during her career at the World Bank also held the positions of Senior Economist at Vice- Presidency for Development and Finance and Resident Representative to Angola and Sao Tome and Principe, based in Luanda. Prior to this, Clara worked at the Bank of Mozambique leading the team negotiating IMF supported programmes. Nikhil Sanghani (BA (Hons) Economics, Politics and International Studies, 2018) - Emerging Markets Economist at Capital Economics. Nikhil joined Capital Economics on their graduate scheme in 2018 and has worked across the company, covering the US, Canada and global financial markets before joining the Emerging Markets team in 2019. Nikhil is also currently studying for a Master’s degree in Economic History from the London School of Economics. Nahrin Rahman Swarna (MSc Economics, 2015) - Policy Analyst at BRAC. Nahrin's current role at BRAC, the largest NGO in the world based in Bangladesh, involves research and policy analysis to support informed policy making. Prior to this, she spent over 3.5 years at the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute, a national level think tank. She describes herself as a development professional with a demonstrated history of working in the area of economic development and International Trade. Jakob Christensen (MSc Quantitative Development Economics, 1996) - Chief Analyst, Head of International Macro and Emerging Market Research at Danske Bank. Jakob’s current role involves leading the international macroeconomic research on both advanced countries and emerging markets. Jakob has also worked as a Senior Economist for Exotix, on the European Commission’s Greek desk as an Economic Analyst, in roles for the Nationalbanken and as an Economist for the International Monetary Fund for over 7 years.
