EASG Seminar with Professor T.J. PempelZoomT. J. Pempel is the Jack M. Forcey Professor Emeritus of Political Scientist at the University of California, Berkeley. In this seminar, Professor Pempel discusses his latest book, A Region of Regimes: Prosperity and Plunder in the Asia-Pacific (Cornell University Press, 2021). The book traces the relationship between politics and economics—power and prosperity—in the Asia-Pacific in the decades since the Second World War, complicating familiar and incomplete narratives of the "Asian economic miracle" to show radically different paths leading to high growth for many but abject failure for some.
This seminar is part of the East Asia Study Group (EASG) Seminar Series. For further information, meeting link and passcode, please contact the EASG at easg@warwick.ac.uk |
