How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

The road to COVID recovery: Weighing up costs, benefits, and intergenerational fairness

Date: Wednesday 25 November 2020, 12-1pm - Online Event

The UK, like many other countries, has once again chosen ‘lock down’ as a means of curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and saving lives. But is there another way?

Join Andrew Oswald and Thijs van Rens to discuss the policy design for UK recovery from the pandemic, the ethics of locking down and the problem of intergenerational unfairness.

Even with the recent good news of a vaccine on the horizon, restrictions to our lifestyle as we once knew it are likely to continue for a significant time to come. The impact of the lockdowns has been severe, particularly on the young; affecting education, jobs and future prosperity. Effects on mental health may have significant long-term implications.

This talk will consider the delicate balance policymakers face – between physical health, mental health and the health of the economy – and discuss possible ways to release parts of the labour force while continuing to suppress the virus.

Chair: Mirko Draca, CAGE Director
Speakers: Andrew Oswald, Professor of Economics and Behavioural Science, University Warwick, Thijs van Rens, Associate Professor of Economics, University of Warwick
