Discussant at CPERN Seminar, hosted by Scuola Normale Superiore, Firenze

On March 26th 2026, I acted as a discussant alongside Aleksandra Piletic on Ian Bruff's paper, 'Detaching 'Neoliberalism' from 'Free Markets': Monopolistic Corporations as Neoliberalism's Ideal Market Form', as published in the Review of Social Economy. The Abstract says that the article 'contributes to the emerging literature on neoliberalism that explicitly rejects the long-held assumption that it is fundamentally about the valorisation of free markets ... Only when neoliberalism is detached from free markets can a fully appropriate critique be mounted, enhancing the possibilities for it to be overcome'.

The event was organised by Gemma Gasseau of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Firenze, Italy, on behalf of the Critical Political Economy Research NetworkLink opens in a new window of the European Sociological Association.
