Summary

Feedback is an important part of the learning process within Warwick Foundation Studies. All staff within the department strive to provide clear and constructive feedback which will help you to improve your performance in the future.

Continuous Feedback

We believe that feedback is something you should receive throughout your time studying the Warwick IFP and not just following submission of formal assessments. Throughout the course you should, therefore, expect to receive:

  • Comments from academic staff on your participation in seminars and lectures
  • Advice and support through module tutor contact-hours
  • Advice and support from academic staff via email
  • Written feedback on module assignments via Tabula (or Moodle)

Forms of Feedback

Feedback can take many forms, although you might expect to receive the following during the course of the programme:

  • Feedback during the development of your work, including discussing an essay plan or seeking a point of clarification on an issue
  • Feedback on planning a revision plan/strategy
  • Written feedback on module assignments
  • Discussion of written feedback with your Personal Tutor
  • Verbal clarification of feedback from module tutors
  • Discussion of your overall academic progress with the Director of Student Experience and Progression

Departmental Feedback Process

Written feedback should tell you how you can improve for the future and not just where you have not performed well.

  • All feedback provided within the department is subject to a rigorous process of review, which includes:
  • Moderation of all assessed work and examinations
  • Anonymous marking of all assessments and examinations
  • Marking and feedback standards monitored by external examiners (from a different University)
  • Providing guidance on the making criteria of all assignments to all students and staff
  • Exchanging teaching and feedback best practice with other academic departments
  • Monitoring by the Director of Studies of the quality and timeliness of feedback

If at any point you have concerns about the quality of feedback provided, you should discuss this with your Subject Tutor in the first instance, followed by the Module Convenor. If you still wish to discuss this further, you should then speak to your Personal Tutor.
